Attending the course will allow:
* Investigation of techniques and stimuli to encourage design creativity and innovation
* Access to, and exploration of, a toolkit of suggested approaches to deliver D&T with a user-centred approach
* Discussion and advice around the implementation of contextual designing to help with the Non-Examined * Assessment for GCSE
Session Content:
*Toolbox of tips
*User centred design
*Analysing contexts
* Bringing the outside in and taking the inside out
* Empathetic design and anthropology
* Non-linear approaches to design
* Context mapping
* Linking to the NEA

Learning Outcomes:
*Engage in activities designed to support your own delivery methods
* Understand how to embed context into your current curriculum
* How to adapt and change to ensure a user-centred approach
* Gain case-studies to use in teaching and development
* To ensure your D&T curriculum works towards developing skills and attributes required for success in the NEA
Delegates will also engage in activities designed to support their own delivery methods in the classroom.
Live contextual challenges will not be discussed on this course in line with Awarding Organisations regulations.

About the Event

Course Outline: This full-day course, working with contexts is key in Design and Technology yet can provide challenges for teachers and students. This 1-day face to face course explores the freedom and opportunities open to students when working from contexts within Design and Technology and is an opportunity to discover and embed key strategies for developing the skill set required by students in KS3 before embarking on their GCSE live contextual challenge.
